Quilts
Quilts comprise one of the largest sub-collections within the Museum’s holdings. Dazzlingly diverse in their color, pattern, and origins, these skillfully-crafted textiles offer an unusually broad record of American women’s history—representing a multitude of voices that are so often left out of the documentary archive. The spectacular works seen here represent quilting practices from early 19th-century New England to the late 20th-century South.
